Kauffman Engineering engineers can assist you with engineering, redesign, or improvement of your product development processes.  We have experienced process improvement teams to brainstorm, design and implement improvements.  Based upon our customer requirements, a project action plan can be established and executed to meet your needs.  Kauffman Engineering can facilitate the team, identify process shortcomings and investigate fixes and propose improvements drawing on our experience assisting other customers.  Kauffman Engineering engineers can conduct training, implement the improvements, and monitor the results.

TOOLING CAPABILITIES

 

Our in-house tool shop with the capability of designing molds, terminal applicators, assembly fixtures, test fixtures (plug matching) using AutoCAD and other design software, allows us the ability to build required solutions quickly.

 

 

 

 

 

 

EXTRUSION

 

In-house extrusion capability allows us to have quicker turnarounds, and smaller quantity runs. We have the range of manufacturing capabilities to run 24 AWG to 10 AWG GPT (105C).

 

 

 

 

STAMPING

 

Our own design as well as any custom stamping applications can be manufactured with our 10 Ton to 65 Ton presses; also a variety of materials, such as: steel, brass, tin plated brass, copper terminals, and brackets can readily be fabricated for use within our harnesses, assemblies and systems.

 

BRAIDED WIRE AND CABLE SLEEVES

 

Our broad range of expandable braided sleeving products can be ordered in a variety of different lengths and colors.  A selection of flame retardant expandable braided sleeving is useful for many different applications from automotive industries to machines that operate under high temperatures.  Expandable braided sleeving can almost double its size when in use.  Flame retardant expandable braided sleeving comes with identifying crisscrossed filaments which are available in black and white only.

 

MOLDED COMPRESSOR PLUG DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING

 

Over 30 years ago, Kauffman Engineering was approached by leaders in the HVAC industry for help.  They were looking for a solution to the number one factory critical defect issue: mis-wired compressors.  Kauffman Engineering designed, developed and began producing the first generation Molded Compressor Plug that was recognized as the industry standard.

Following this success, Kauffman Engineering worked with multiple compressor manufacturers to design and produce Molded Compressor Plugs for various applications.  Over 30 years and tens of millions of plugs in field applications later, Kauffman Engineering is the recognized leader for Molded Compressor Plugs.

 

AUTOMATED CUTS/STRIP/TERMINATE

 

Automated cutting, terminating, and printing technology allows us to lead the industry in efficiency, quality and consistency in specification for both length and crimp integrity.  Insulation Displacement Connectors (IDC) as well as standard crimp-on terminations are applied by the millions at each Kauffman Engineering manufacturing location on an annual basis.  The close monitoring of crimp height by our quality departments assures a quality crimp at all times.

 

SPLICING

 

Our use of Sonic Welding Technology assures long term, secure and durable connection every time.  We can also splice "In-line" and "end splice".

 

 

 

 

 

PCB ASSEMBLY-ELECTRONIC MANUFACTURING SERVICES

 

Our EMS facility is certified for ESD processes using IPC standards for both leaded and ROHS (Lead-Free) work cells.  Automated, through-hole, BGA and surface-mount assembly, combined with no-clean soldering techniques allows us to serve many industries.  Diagnostic and/or functional testing along with design for manufacturing assistance completes the spectrum of capabilities to best meet your needs.

 

RIBBON CABLE PROCESSING

 

Processing capabilities range from 2 to 37 circuits and multiple wire gauges.  Notching capabilities allow application of multiple housings throughout the cable assembly.  Hi-Pot testing is performed as housings are applied to ensure circuit integrity.  Wire twisting by specification to produce twisted pairs can also be accomplished.

 

 

SUB ASSEMBLY INCORPORATION

 

Kauffman Engineering can help you improve costs and efficiencies by assembling brackets, light sockets, populated circuit boards and other such components with the harness, making it installation ready when it reaches your plant.  We offer a wide range of tubing capabilities, such as: standard and high-temperature loom protection, as well as wire braiding capabilities.  Protection circuits (fuses, diodes, resistors, relays, e.g.) can be incorporated into the design as needed.

 

ELECTRONIC PRE-TESTING

 

Kauffman Engineering is respected in the industry as a supplier who holds itself to the most stringent and highest quality standards.  Processes in place ensure the people at Kauffman Engineering work hard every day to continuously improve quality.  In almost every application, harnesses are electrically checked for continuity to insure production/design errors are not allowed to escape to our customers.  Programmable testers are often utilized with the capability to check a broad range of components including switches, resistors, thermistors and capacitors.  Hi-Pot testing can also be performed as required.  Key quality indicators are continuously monitored, with quality systems in place to identify and initiate investigations in an effort to make corrections and improvements.
