Job Summary

Kauffman Engineering, Inc. is seeking a high-energy, self-motivated Maintenance Technician to perform work involving HVAC repair, plumbing, light machining, electrical support, general carpentry, mechanical repair and installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform “preventive maintenance” and “as needed” repair to wire processing machines, tooling, and assembly equipment used in the manufacture of company products.
  • Perform routine building maintenance. Ensures utilities are operating efficiently, and makes repairs to the infrastructure in order to maintain the physical condition of building and grounds.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Catalog and track all capital equipment. Open, summarize and close preventive maintenance and repair work orders, and track all spare parts through the Manager Plus maintenance software.
  • Clean and lubricate machinery, equipment, instruments, tools, work areas, and other objects, using hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment.
  • Utilize blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and manuals to facilitate troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms.
  • Be willing to train on AMP Wire Cutter and Terminals Bench Press machines.
  • Building and designing boards to customer specifications to aid in the manufacturing process.
  • Seasonal outside maintenance (winter, summer, fall.)
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Key Qualifications

  • High School completion or general educatiocompany-paid degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Secondary education or training and technical maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting is also preferred.
  • Computer proficiency is needed for researching solutions and/or searching for needed materials.
  • Use and be familiar with assembly and measuring tools, interpret visual aids and must be able to perform simple shop math.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple and moderately complex instructions.
  • Ability to prioritize workflow according to production demands as well as switch from task to task
  • Experience with AMP, Komax, Molex, or other equipment or tooling specific to the wire harness and cable assembly industry, is a plus.
  • Able to work alone and in a team environment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs
